Painter and ornamentalist Marian Nosshi has taken her attraction to form through an exploration of different mediums and materials, reflecting her warm and playful spirit. By incorporating a variety of techniques in her experimentation with natural pigments, water colors, and gypsum, she is weaving together her background and personal experiences into works that are inspired by nature, seeking to capture it in its most simple and geometric forms. “I am just having fun and I capture what catches my eye. This approach is completely experimental, reminiscent of frescos but I combine different materials. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t!”

Marian graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts in Zamalek, Cairo, Egypt in 2000. Afterward, she spent some time doing workshops in Germany and Egypt to continue exploring a variety of media. Then, she worked with kids for 13 years, where she spent a lot of time obvserving the way in which kids express and create with no inhibitions and simplicity. “Kids just go with their feelings or whatever pops into their mind, mixing whatever combination of materials they like, but most of all, they enjoy the process.” Her work embraces this type of creative journey, in which one can mix and get messy, bringing to life the beautiful transparency and vibrancy of natural colors. Her studio is located in Harrania, Egypt.
