An Egyptian musician descending from the family of the Nubian artist and composer Hussein Jasser, Mizo grew up among a rich heritage of musical originality. He began to learn music from the young age of 8. By the age of 17 he made a lifelong choice to become a professional musician. He launched his career by playing traditional Nubian and folklore music, and learning about traditional music across various cultures.
At the age of 19, Mizo met with young musicians interested in playing a different type of music in the streets of downtown Cairo. Their love of music brought them together, and hence “Wust El Balad” was born to become Egypt’s leading independent band, and one of the biggest names in the Underground scene both in Egypt and the Middle East, opening the door for more bands to emerge. Mizo also turned to commercial scene by playing along famous singers in the Middle East such as Mohamed Mounir and Asala Nasri.
In the past couple of years, Mizo decided to learn music production and sound engineering. Starting at the Cairo-based EPIC101 Studio, then traveling to Berlin to learn the latest technology in the field. This experience enabled him to start his new musical project “Mizology”, creating a bold fusion between electronic music, his percussion talents, and rhythms inspired by world music; while preserving the Nubian heritage evident in his work.
